Andy’s Got A New ‘Do

Andy Roddick’s sporting a super short buzz these days. Not such a good look if you ask me. Is that a receding hairline I see? Soon A-Rod’s gonna be looking like this: Read the rest of this entry »

Told You.

I told you it would be comical when Rafa Nadal played Andy Roddick in reverse singles and it was. Rafa destroyed Roddick, 6-4, 6-0, 6-4. With a muscle strain. In his ass. Nadal revealed in the post match press conference that he almost didn’t play because an MRI on Saturday revealed a minor strain in his “famous arse”. Spain has now clinched the tie, no matter the outcome of the Ferrer-Querrey match. Roddick fell to 0-5 in must win Davis Cup matches.

Oh, hey Feliciano.

Upsets Continue at Wimbledon

Andy Roddick was shown the door by Janko Tipseravic in the second round of Wimbledon, 7-6 (5),  5-7, 4-6, 6-7 (4). This tournament has seen more upsets in three days than most grand slams get in their whole two weeks. If things hold to this form we’re going to see some crazy drama unfold.

I Hate Andy Roddick but….

I must say he looks pretty attractive with a mohawk. This new style is the result of a lost bet with his fiance, Brooklyn Decker. She beat him in their NCAA bracket.

All for Nothing

Andy Roddick came off his second career victory over Roger Federer and then lost to Nikolay Davydenko in the Miami semis. Well done, Andy, once again you prove that you can’t win anything big. Davydenko won easily, 7-6, 6-2. Seriously, Roddick’s ranking should be frozen at #11 so more deserving players can be in the top ten.

Andy Roddick announced his engagement to SI Swimsuit model, Brooklyn Decker. Roddick’s official website broke the news, “The couple wanted to tell their family and close friends first but good news travels fast,”. The two plan on waiting before setting a wedding date.

Yes, we know Andy isn’t gay, but this picture is just too good to let go by.

Tommy Haas sent Andy Roddick packing in the second round of the Pacific Life Open on Sunday. Tommy played beautifully and deserved his 6-4, 6-4 win over Roddick. The win improved Haas’ record over Roddick to 7-3, Haas taking the last three meetings. Andy’s loss marks his worst ever performance at Indian Wells.

Now, Don’t Get Too Excited

Andy Roddick’s official Facebook page is up and running. Exciting, right? Wrong. But, there are quite a few pictures, like the one above, of Andy looking like a complete tool. The link is here, go have fun.

In other news, Martina Navratilova, after telling reporters that she is taking back her Czech citizenship, tells Maria Sharapova to shut the fuck up. Well, sort of.

“If I were the commissioner of tennis I would outlaw (screeching during matches.) Maria’s level gets louder the closer the match and quite frankly it’s not necessary, they aren’t lifting 300 pounds, they’re hitting a tennis ball.”

Personally, I think grunting should be kept to grunting, not screaming as Maria does. No one needs to scream to hit a tennis ball. Ever.

Lastly, Jelena Jankovic has a surprising talent for blogging. The blog she’s doing for the WTA Tour at Indian Wells is actually turning out to be quite entertaining.

Americans Dominate Tennis (At least for this week)

The past week has been the best in a long time for American tennis. Every major trophy up for grabs last week was claimed by an American. Serena Williams triumphed in Bangalore over Patty Schynder of Switzerland. Andy Roddick claimed the title in Dubai over Spain’s Feliciano Lopez. Sam Querrey won the Tennis Channel Open in Las Vegas over South African Kevin Anderson

But perhaps the most promising news is the way the new generation of Americans performed over the past week. Querrey, only 20, won his first title. Sam, along with John Isner and Donald Young make the future for American men’s tennis look bright. On the women’s side, three American juniors had a great showing at the 50k challenger, the Hilton Cup, in Las Vegas. 16 year-old, Asia Muhammad, made it all the way to the final. In the semifinals she took out 17 year-old, Madison Brengle. Brengle also made the Wimbledon girl’s final last summer. Another American, CoCo Vandeweghe, made it to the quarterfinals. 16 year-old Vandeweghe has been hailed as the most promising of the young crop. With all these promising young talents, America may get back to its glory days in a few years.
