The Shoulder Woes Keep Coming for Sharapova

Maria Sharapova will miss a major for the first time in her career when she sits out the U.S. Open later this month. A follow-up appointment for her shoulder in New York revealed a torn rotator cuff. She was also informed that she had been playing with the injury since April. “You can imagine that I was not very thrilled to hear that my medical team did not see this tear in my shoulder back in April,” Mash said via her website. I would fire every single one of them if I was her because this is a really serious injury to miss. Maria will now head to Arizona to work with a specialist. As always, she maintained a positive attitude and promises to “work hard to get healthy.” Sharapova anticipates her return in 2-3 months.

Get well soon, Mash, tennis ain’t the same without you.
