The Magic Racquet

Nikolay Davydenko defeated Rafael Nadal, 6-4, 6-2, in the final of the Sony Ericcson Open in Miami, using the same racquet the whole tournament. Nikolay changed frames after Indian Wells to a racquet with a less dense string pattern, and only had one throughout Miami. After saving a match point in his second round match against Gulbis, Davydenko needed only 82 minutes to dispose of Nadal. Nikolay should use that racquet until it can’t be used anymore.

All for Nothing

Andy Roddick came off his second career victory over Roger Federer and then lost to Nikolay Davydenko in the Miami semis. Well done, Andy, once again you prove that you can’t win anything big. Davydenko won easily, 7-6, 6-2. Seriously, Roddick’s ranking should be frozen at #11 so more deserving players can be in the top ten.
