I’d give Chakvetadze the edge over Vaidisova: Anna C. has more natural talent and stays cooler under pressure. Both have had baaaaaaad spring/summer seasons though (so bad, in fact, I didn’t remember that Chakvetadze won the Open de Gaz tournament – and I watched that match!).
Truth be told, I’m irritated Chakvetadze, Vaidisova, and Peer have decided to play inspired tennis at this event – my pre-tournament picks counted on them continuing to slump!
Kuz vs. Radwanska is probably the best match up and should be the most entertaining match, although it will also be interesting to see if Szavay can stay focused on not think about reaching her second Slam quarter (and quite possibly semifinal!) in order to hold of Zheng…
I think Clement might have the goods to upend Cilic, actually. I want Youzhny to take at least a set off Nadal – if he starts strong in the first two sets (both those sets), I believe he can…
